I Attended Tennessee’s ESSA Town Hall So You Don’t Have ToDecember 15, 2016
On Thursday December 15th, I attended an ESSA Town Hall hosted by Candice McQueen, Tennessee’s Commissioner of Education, and the Tennessee Department of Education. More than anything, I was excited when Dr. McQueen shared five huge opportunities for education under the Every Student Succeeds Act:
1. Set high expectations aligned to postsecondary and workforce readiness so all TN students can pursue their chosen paths.
2. Support prek through 12th grade students – especially historically disadvantaged students – so they can be successful after high school.
3. Provide support, funding, intervention, and innovation for persistently low-performing schools.
4. Focus on strengthening and supporting educators.
5. Empower districts to drive toward student goals.
Check out the Tweets below to find out what else I learned, and follow #TNSucceeds to follow the action on Twitter!
