Inside look: How teachers and staff lean on new resources to improve student test scores in AuroraSeptember 30, 2019
Colorado Social Studies teacher Jill Cullis, who has been in the classroom for 33 years – 29 of which have been at Gateway High School in Aurora – gives Denver7 an inside look at the hard work that her school has committed to in order to raise student achievement and address concerns that have placed the school on “performance watch.” Jill highlights the commitment of the community and how her hopes are high as a new administration begins leading the school this year, even as the last few years have been difficult. “When I first started teaching we closed our doors. We did whatever we wanted to do. Now we look at data. We look at how your kids are doing compared to my kids. It has challenged me to improve my instruction.”.
