Educators for High Standards is committed to transforming public education through a commitment to high standards for teaching and learning. As part of that commitment, we’ve devoted a large portion our resources to supporting and accelerating the best ideas of educators across the country.
As part of their work, our fellows design and implement state-level advocacy projects, partner with advocates across the country, and work to expand their teacher leadership and advocacy skills.

Kari Patrick – Kentucky
Senior Advisor of Teacher Outreach and Innovation, Kari W. Patrick, is a high school English teacher at STEAM Academy in Lexington, Kentucky. She is also a member of the STEAM Teacher Advisory Council, where she serves as a liaison between educators and administrators to drive teacher and student-centered policies for the school. In her six years in the classroom, Kari has taught in both rural and urban settings, and was recognized for her outstanding teaching in 2016 when she was named the Kentucky Council of Teacher of English High School Teacher of the Year. She loves using Passion Projects in her classroom to spark student interest and inquiry and is passionate about supporting new teachers and elevating the voice of teachers and students in policy development. When she’s not in the classroom or collaborating with teachers, you can find her hanging out with her husband and two dogs: Jackson and Burley.
